Oral History Digitisation Across Mid-Hill Villages

Over the past year, field teams have travelled to mid-hill villages recording the testimonies of elders who hold the community's living memory — migration trails, ritual calendars, and the everyday life of the hills.

Hours of aging tape and audio recordings are being cleaned, restored, and catalogued:

• Digitised interviews time-coded and transcribed in the original dialect.
• Photographic records matched to each testimony for context.
• Public listening stations planned for community cultural centres.

The archive will be freely accessible to researchers, students, and community members, ensuring the histories collected are not locked away but remain part of everyday heritage life.
